The Story of Skybear
Larry came into my life in 1982. He was a regular pain in the neck. Always did what he wanted: he was incorrigible. But in 1990, he saved my life. And in 1991 we met Ed and our lives really turned around for the good. In 1993 at our wedding, Larry was best dog, the best that he could be, barking up a storm during the entire ceremony. He cemented our trio. When Larry crossed over 10/28/99 I was devastated. He was just a month shy of 17 years, but I felt maybe I could have done something to prolong his life. I was wrong of course, it was a miracle that he lived that long. In 1991 he had been poisoned and almost died. His 79 year old vet, Doc Zak, stayed with him through the night and saved his life. Larry enjoyed his life, going on vacation with me and Ed, traveling to Dog Day at Comiskey Park in Chicago, and pictured here, staying at Sky Dome Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, where he watched a CFL game from his suite. About a week after Larry crossed over, on November 4th, I had this overwhelming need to know Larry was OK, to "see" him. I was blessed with a visit: I could see, hear, and feel him. This was an "ADC" or an after death communication, as first referenced in a study by Judy and Bill Guggenheim in their ADC Project (see web site at www.after-death.com/). I was so thrilled! I decided I must learn to communicate with the "other side" so I could still have Larry in my life. Ed and I knew he was around us, but I needed other confirmation. I thus started on my path in Spiritualism, to learn more about mediumship and to "see" Larry as he became my Skybear and my totem watching over and protecting me every day. During the last three years Larry would come through from the other side to give me messages that he was around in my own meditations and then through professional mediums. During one sitting with Robert Brown in October 2000, there was a sound of a dog barking on my tape of the session. We had both heard the bark and knowing we were in a hotel several stories up and one that did not accept dogs we both realized that the bark must be "from Spirit," Larry's bark. Robert graciously wrote about that incident in his book, We Are Eternal and you can read the excerpt taken from pages 114 and 115 through the link at the top of this page. And in Suzane Northrop's book, Everything Happens for a Reason you can read of my first public message from Larry during a small workshop Suzane gave in Boston also in 2000; accessing her book by the link also at the top of this page.
